In this work Areti Chourdaki projects an unknown touch for the society of today. A touch that is neither sexual, friendly, nor familial, wondering how the distance between people is measured by not touching anyone other than our family, friends, and lovers.
The motivation for this project was the desire to show that being in contact with someone is not only physical. Every day, with the help of our eyes and our senses in general, we are in contact with everything around us. Space, the environment, humans, animals, our belongings and objects.
Why then, when we caress an animal we don't see it as a "sexual attack"?
This duo was inspired by a text written by Karen Nelson to the magazine '’Contact Quarterly’’ under the title ''Touch Revolution: Giving dance’' in 1996.

Dans ce travail Areti Chourdaki projette un touché inconnue pour la société d’aujourd’hui. Un touché qui est ni sexuelle, ni amicale, ni familial, en s’interrogeant comment la distance entre les gens s’évalue avec le fait de ne pas toucher personne d’autre que notre famille, nos amies, et amoureux.
La motivation pour ce projet était l’envie de montrer que d’être en contact avec quelqu’un n’est pas seulement physique. Quotidiennement, avec l’aide de notre regarde et nos sens en général, on est en contact avec tout ce qui est autour de nous. L’espace, l’environnement, les humains, les animaux, nos affaires et objets.
Pourquoi alors quand on caresse un animal on voit pas ça comme une ‘’attaque sexuelle’’?

Σε αυτό το έργο η Αρετή Χουρδάκη προβάλλει μια άγνωστη πινελιά για την κοινωνία του σήμερα. Ένα άγγιγμα που δεν είναι ούτε σεξουαλικό, φιλικό ούτε οικογενειακό, αναρωτιέται πώς μετράται η απόσταση μεταξύ των ανθρώπων με το να μην αγγίζουμε κανέναν άλλο από την οικογένεια, τους φίλους και τους εραστές μας.
Το κίνητρο για αυτό το έργο ήταν η επιθυμία να προβάλλει πωσ η επαφή με κάποιον δεν είναι μόνο σωματική. Κάθε μέρα, με τη βοήθεια των ματιών μας και των αισθήσεών μας, είμαστε σε επαφή με τα πάντα γύρω μας. Ο χώρος, το περιβάλλον, οι άνθρωποι, τα ζώα, τα υπάρχοντα και αντικείμενα μας.
Γιατί λοιπόν, όταν χαϊδεύουμε ένα ζώο, δεν το βλέπουμε ως «σεξουαλική επίθεση»;
Αυτό το έργο εμπνεύστηκε από ένα κείμενο που γράφτηκε από την Karen Nelson στο περιοδικό "Contact Quarterly" με τον τίτλο "Touch Revolution: Giving dance" το 1996.
