Areti Chourdaki est une chorégraphe et performeuse chypriote basée à Bruxelles. Elle est diplômée du CNDC d’Angers ainsi que du Master Danse et Pratiques Chorégraphiques (Charleroi Danse, INSAS, La Cambre) à Bruxelles, où elle a développé une pratique interrogeant le corps comme archive vivante de systèmes répétitifs et structurés.
Son travail chorégraphique s’articule autour de l’exploration des limites du corps humain et en particulier de l’endurance. Elle expérimente la répétition comme un processus à la fois physique et perceptif, un jeu avec les limites, celles de son corps, de son ennui et son épuisement, celles du regard et de l’attention qui s’effacent et se fatiguent.
Le tricot est un médium central dans sa pratique, un mode de création où la répétition devient structurelle. Dans ses performances, ses créations faites main, sont utilisées comme costumes et outils scénographiques, prolongeant ainsi le dialogue entre le corps et la matière.
Ses pièces ont été présentées en Belgique, en France et à Chypre, dans des contextes institutionnels et indépendants. Sa dernière création, Le chemin se fait en marchant, a été présentée en première au Théâtre de la Balsamine en mars 2026, en coproduction avec Charleroi Danse.
En parallèle de son travail de création, elle active les sculptures performatives d’Yvan Clédat et Coco Petitpierre - (Funny Game) et elle bouge aux pas d’une danse pour la fin du monde de Diamanto Hadjizacharia – (a dance for the end of the world).
Areti Chourdaki is a Cypriot choreographer and performer based between Brussels and Nicosia. She graduated from CNDC in Angers and from the Master’s programme in Dance and Choreographic Practices (Charleroi Danse, INSAS, La Cambre) in Brussels, where she developed a practice investigating the body as a living archive of repetitive and structured systems.
Her choreographic work focuses on exploring the limits of the human body, and more specifically endurance. Through repetition, she establishes a process that is both physical and perceptual — a play with thresholds: those of the body, of its boredom and exhaustion, but also those of the gaze and attention, which blur and tire over time.
Knitting is a central medium in her practice: a method of creation where repetition becomes structural. In her performances, her handmade creations are used as costumes and scenographic tools, thus prolonging the dialogue between body and material.
Her works have been presented in Belgium, France, and Cyprus, in both institutional and independent settings. Her latest creation, Le chemin se fait en marchant, premiered at La Balsamine Theater in March 2026, in co-production with Charleroi Danse.
Alongside her own creations, Areti embodies the performative sculptures of Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre (Funny Game), and moves to the steps of a dance for the end of the world by Diamanto Hadjizacharia.
Η Αρετή Χουρδάκη είναι Κύπρια δημιουργός και ερμηνεύτρια με έδρα τις Βρυξέλλες. Αποφοίτησε από το CNDC στη Γαλλία, καθώς και από το Μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Χορού και Χορογραφικών Πρακτικών (Charleroi Danse, INSAS, La Cambre) στις Βρυξέλλες, όπου αναπτύσσει μία πρακτική που εξετάζει πώς το σώμα μπορεί να λειτουργήσει ως ένα ζωντανό αρχείο δομημένων και επαναλαμβανόμενων συστημάτων.
Ως δημιουργός, επικεντρώνεται σε διάφορους περιορισμούς του ανθρώπινου σώματος και κυρίως στην αντοχή. Μέσα από την επανάληψη, εγκαθιδρύει μια διαδικασία που είναι ταυτόχρονα σωματική και αντιληπτική — ένα παιχνίδι με κατώφλια: του σώματος, της πλήξης και της εξάντλησής του, αλλά και του βλέμματος και της προσοχής, που θολώνουν και κουράζονται με τον χρόνο.
Πειραματίζεται και ερευνά τις δυνατότητες ορισμένων χειροτεχνικών πρακτικών, όπως το πλέξιμο, τις οποίες ενσωματώνει στις δημιουργικές της διαδικασίες. Οι χειροποίητες δημιουργίες της μεταμορφώνονται σε προεκτάσεις του σώματος — κοστούμια ή σκηνικά αντικείμενα — διευρύνοντας έτσι τον διάλογο μεταξύ σώματος και ύλης.
Τα έργα της έχουν παρουσιαστεί στο Βέλγιο, στη Γαλλία και στην Κύπρο, τόσο σε θεσμικά όσο και σε ανεξάρτητα πλαίσια. Η τελευταία της δημιουργία, «Le chemin se fait en marchant», έκανε πρεμιέρα στο Théâtre de la Balsamine τον Μάρτιο του 2026, σε συμπαραγωγή με το Charleroi Danse.
Ως ερμηνεύτρια, ενεργοποιεί τα γλυπτά και έργα των Yvan Clédat και Coco Petitpierre - Funny Game. Επιπλέον κινείται στα βήματα ενός χορού για το τέλος του κόσμου της Διαμάντω Χατζηζαχαρία - a dance for the end of the world.
